![]() ![]() It can be seen allowing the steam from the geothermal vents enter its body, and it can also be seen ejecting excess fluid through a opening/mouth on the top of it’s body. The Ventgarden doesn’t have much behaviour as it is unmoving and stays above a geothermal vent. ![]() It has an ecosystem in it like the juvenile and It can be entered by the player and can have fauna inside of it (Such as brute sharks and small edible prey fish). The Ventgarden is a massive unmoving leviathan which is also the largest leviathan in Subnautica: Below zero. It will move around the biome in a random pattern and will very often fluctuate depths as it kinda “hops around” to swim.ĭespite most leviathans in the Subnautica series, the Juvenile ventgarden is unkillable. The Ventgarden juvenile is a medium-sized leviathan that gets its nutrients from geothermal vents and has a garden inside of it (as the name suggests). It has 10000 Health making it the creature with the most health in Subnautica: Below zero. It will usually stick to an approximate depth and move around that area before switching depths. It has glowing “ears”/antennae on it’s head. It is the first herbivorous leviathan the player will encounter. It is not agressive towards the player and can be interacted with. The Glow whale is a large filter-feeder that can be found in the Lilypads biome and the east arctic. Here we’ll talk about the herbivorous leviathans. Just be careful not to lose track of one's oxygen reserves. In this guide, i’ll be covering each leviathan in below zero, and i’ll be describing their stats, behaviour, etc… Gamers cannot steer the Glow Whale or do anything else besides exit the interaction, however, this is a very pleasant and relaxing way to go for an undersea cruise. Activating this prompt will cause the player to place their hands upon the top of the cetacean's head as the sea creature begins to swim around slowly. Riding A Glow WhaleĪrguably one of the most fun ways to engage with the natural fauna of Planet 4546B, players can swim above the head of a Glow Whale to find another interaction point between their two glow horns. ![]() If one goes for the prompt, the player will begin gently petting the Glow Whale on their head, specifically around the eye. If one swims up to a Glow Whale's face, toward an eye, the interaction icon (a light blue hand) will pop up and indicate that something can be done here. As such, there are some novel ways to meet and greet a Glow Whale. They may be carnivores, but they are only hungry for fish something the player can probably relate with on this mostly-water planet. They harbor barnacles and algae upon their bodies and don't seem to mind human company in the slightest.Īs opposed to most Leviathans, where the player usually wants to get as far away as possible (unless trying to scan them), it is totally fine to get as close to a Glow Whale as one desires. ![]() These huge creatures are gentle giants and are completely passive. These Leviathans also seem to be able to use their glow horns for echolocation pertaining to finding food. They act like tuning forks to catch and resonate sounds emitted by other Glow Whales. These vibrant organs sprouting from the heads of the Glow Whales actually have an auditory use despite being extremely visually attractive. There are also singular large photophores in front of the eyes of each whale that may help them see in darker parts of the oceans. PhotophoresĪll over their bodies, the Glow Whales have different kinds of bioluminescence, though the majority are created by small organs call photophores which dot their flanks with bright yellow lights and the back of their large fins with pink glowing beads. Interestingly, these sounds are above the auditory range frequency of humans, whereas with Earth whales the frequency is often too low to hear. This kind of communication seems to make them happy and elicits positive social responses from other Glow Whales when reciprocated. Glow Whales communicate with other members of their species by emitting sounds that resonate within their glowing horns. RELATED: Subnautica: Below Zero - Obelisk Location Glow Whale Communication There is also information about specific parts of their anatomy. The game describes the Glow Whale Leviathans as very large communal organisms that swim around open waters and sometimes breach the surface. ![]()
