Parallels is a great tool, I only wish this was clearly posted on their website or forums when I first started using it. I primarily use MAMP for local development, and it turns out that MAMP PRO has an option to add additional virtual host parameters to each individual site. I hope this has helped save you some time. Type in in Internet Explorer and you should now be able to see your project! Add Virtual host in mac using mamp pro Ask Question Asked 4 years ago Modified 4 years ago Viewed 3k times 0 I need to add virtual host in Mac using MAMP Pro. After getting feedback from people in the know I decided to use Parallels. I considered a few options such as Bootcamp, VMware Fusion and Parallels. just tell it how to configure when you Vagrant Up and you're good to go.Recently I started using a Virtual Machine on my Macbook Pro. Node, PHP, Rails, Static Sites, Vagrant could care less. The only reason I say Vagrant is a little step ahead of the other solutions is because you can run anything through it since it's just a virtual machine sitting on top of your OS. This helps and makes sure everyone is on the exact same environment developing with the exact same configuration, so no more problems having someone say they can't get it to work lol. It also works amazing for teams, since there is no configuration you need to do on your computer except download VirtualBox (free) and Vagrant (free). It is a little work to get setup the way you want for the specific environments you want it to build out, but saves many problems down the line and makes it worth it in the end. The localhost virtual host is created by default and cannot be deleted. Works amazing and provides a super maintainable and quick workflow for getting a local dev environment to mimic your staging and production environments. MAMP PRO uses virtual hosts to allow your web servers to serve different websites.
